Who we are

Media Asset Advisors LLC is a California limited liability company and is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

Information we collect

When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the message you provide, and your phone number if you choose to give it. We collect this so we can respond to your inquiry and assess whether we can help.

We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send, confidential, privileged, or transaction-specific information through this website.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

We use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, to take steps at your request before any engagement, to carry out conflict checks, to keep a record of who has approached us and about what, to research publicly available information about you and your business so we can respond usefully, and to understand in aggregate which kinds of inquiry lead to engagements so we can improve how we work.

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): responding to business enquiries, running conflict checks, maintaining records of prospective engagements, researching publicly available information about prospective clients, and analysing in aggregate which enquiries lead to engagements. Our interest is in operating an advisory practice, avoiding conflicts, and improving how we work; we have considered the impact on you and consider it minimal, since you chose to contact us and the information is business contact information.
• Steps prior to a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): where your inquiry concerns a possible engagement.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): for non-essential cookies only. See “Cookies” below.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time by contacting us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

We use third-party service providers in the following categories, who process information only on our instructions and for these limited purposes:

• website hosting and content delivery
• website security
• contact form processing and storage
• research and information tools
• email delivery

We may also disclose information to professional advisers, or where required by law, court order, or a regulator.

International transfers

We operate from the United States. If you contact us from the UK, the EEA, Canada, Australia, or elsewhere outside the United States, the information you submit is transferred to and stored in the United States.

Where UK or EU law applies, we rely on Article 49(1)(b) of the UK/EU GDPR for these transfers, because the transfer is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract. Data transfers to our third-party form processor operate under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

For individuals in Australia, this is a cross-border disclosure for the purposes of Australian Privacy Principle 8.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry records for approximately three (3) years from our last contact with you, then delete them. Where an inquiry leads to an engagement, we keep records under the terms of that engagement and for as long as required by law.

You can ask us to delete your inquiry at any time by emailing info@mediaassetadvisors.com.

Security

We take commercially reasonable measures to protect the information you provide. This site is hosted on a secure cloud platform and served exclusively over HTTPS with TLS encryption applied to data transmitted between your browser and our servers. Contact form submissions are processed by a secure third-party form processor that encrypts data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We follow industry-standard practices but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data breaches

If a breach of security affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and any relevant regulator where required by applicable law, including California Civil Code § 1798.82, the UK and EU GDPR, PIPEDA in Canada, and the Australian Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights to:

• access the personal information we hold about you
• correct inaccurate information
• delete information
• restrict or object to our processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
• receive your information in a portable format
• withdraw consent where we rely on it, at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
• not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

To exercise any of these rights, contact info@mediaassetadvisors.com. We will respond within one month, or within 45 days where a U.S. state law applies. We do not charge for this and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, contact us at info@mediaassetadvisors.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond without undue delay.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may complain to a supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In the EEA it is the supervisory authority in your country of residence. In Australia it is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). In Canada it is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec for Quebec residents.

Cookies

This website uses a minimal cookie system. When you first visit, we ask for your cookie choices before loading anything optional. We do not currently deploy analytics or marketing trackers, but ask for your consent in advance so we can add them without changing your choices retroactively.

• Essential cookies. Always active. Used only to make the site work and to remember your cookie preferences. These cannot be turned off.
• Analytics cookies. Off unless you turn them on. If enabled in the future, used to understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• Marketing cookies. Off unless you turn them on. If enabled in the future, used to measure campaign performance and tailor content.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent.

United States

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act or other U.S. state privacy laws. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide the required opt-out mechanisms, including a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.

Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy legislation may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain uses. Contact info@mediaassetadvisors.com to exercise them.

Australia

For individuals in Australia, this policy is intended to describe our handling of personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not use automated decision-making that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect your rights or interests. Cross-border disclosure is addressed under “International transfers” above. Complaints may be made to us in the first instance and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children

This website is directed to business professionals and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact info@mediaassetadvisors.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date below reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page before they take effect.
